Hey guys. Here’s your yearly reminder to please give to more accepting charities than The Salvation Army for the holiday season. They are vehemently anti-gay, refusing to give domestic partner benefits and even shelter to gay couples that are in need.
Some alternatives:
HRC
The Task Force
State Based organizations (EqualityNC, Freedom to Marry NY, and GSE, for example)
The Trevor Project
Homeless Shelters for LGBT Youth, like the Ali Forney Center

YES! I have to remind even my most politically savvy gay friends to not drop those quarters into the bucket held by the person ringing a bell and save them for a more tolerant organization.

Doing the most good?  Really?  Really?

The paragraph below the one boxed in yellow contradicts the one above it. :S Either way, I will not be dropping my spare change in the SA tills this year. Alternatively, here are some other options Torontonians..
