I saw this broad (who is effectively the love of my life) ONLY 3 days ago and I’m already in withdrawal. I could really do fuck all with my friends for the rest of my life and be completely happy.

Excuse the chest shot but I’m watching the game in the cutest cricket t-shirt ever made. :) Yeah yeah, I picked it up at Odel but It’s still awesome!
So cramming and cricket both seem to run well in to the wee hours of the morning. Not a bad combo.

This is the obligatory picture Pookie & I take whenever we go to shows. Mumford will go down as one of the sweatier ones from all the dancing.
W/e though, we cute.
Also, Anima is so pretty it really makes me sick sometimes. No, all the time.

My second Mumford show.

Note: Excuse the quality of these pictures. I love them because they’re memories but they’re not professional or anything of that sort. I did my best. Enjoy!

Some time ago, Mumford’s fan club sent out an e-mail to it’s mailing list announcing 3 new Canadian shows which I promptly forward to Pookie since we couldn’t see them together the last time they were in Toronto at Sound Academy. We really didn’t think we would get to see them live together until after they released their next album so she gave me the okay to order tickets as soon as they went on the fan club pre-sale.

Fast forward to last night which can only be described in one word as magical

I have to take a moment right now to thank some wonderful girls. Mari, who was third in line because she started waiting at 7 am and Maria, who joined her at 11…my night wouldn’t have been a fraction of what it was if it wasn’t for them graciously letting Anima and I join them in line.

Down to business now. The Apache Relay opened first. They were fun and quick-tempo-ed which really got the crowd going. I thought the lead singer was a fantastic dancer and it made me wanna dance too. :D My favourite song of their set was ‘Power Hungry Animals’ which you can listen to here. Really a lovely little song.

Next was Nathaniel Rateliff whose voice can only be described as something like a country version of Zeus. You can listen to him here

Mumford takes the stage. WE ALL GO APESHIT!!!!

LOOK HOW CLOSE WE WERE!!! We were directly in front of Ben and Marcus! Anywhow, In typical Mumford-manner, the fellas jammed, slammed and sang every song in that heart-breakingly beautiful way they do. They draw you in with their music in a way that you feel like you’ve lost all your senses rest sight and sound. I lost track of the time and where I was. If it wasn’t for Mari and Maria screaming excitedly and Anima swaying in unison with me to the music, I most likely would’ve forgotten who I was with as well.

I don’t know if you guys know this but Ben Lovett is actually a sex god in disguise as a musician..

Almost forgot, Mumford has a brand spanking never-before-heard song that they played for the first time for us lovely Torontonians called Ghosts, which is aptly named because it is so hauntingly lovely. You can listen to it here. (Don’t know if it’ll be up long so listen while you can)

In conclusion, it really was a marvelous show and set. I think if you compare my post about the first show and this one you’ll see that I was much more romantic about the former simply because it was my first time seeing them. This was much more a show where I walked away feeling overjoyed and thoroughly entertained than numb and blissfully dazed.

If I had to pick one band to watch live for the rest of my life, it would be Mumford & Sons. These guys know how to throw a fucking party. That is all.

Oh and in case you were wondering what it looks like to stand in front of 20,000 beautiful Torontonians…

Went to see Mumford & Sons last night @ Sound Academy

sashya-k:

I went with my cousin on a whim in a very last-minute decision because he’d found a couple that decided to not go last minute and we got so extremely lucky to get decently priced tickets on a fully sold-out show. Sadly, I had to cancel on my lovely friend, who is also a fan of M&S, and our plans that night. I thought I was a big fan going in to see these guys but that multiplied exponentially throughout the entire night. Mumford & Sons are so fucking spectacular they made me cry because they are so wonderfully beautiful to be in the presence of and to listen to.

The opening acts, King Charles (a surprisingly new favourite) and Cadillac Sky (also been googling them all day), were phenomenal and were amazing build-up to M&S. King Charles, the best kind of ‘dirty hippy’ there is, played as his last song his own and updated version of ‘We Didn’t Start The Fire’ by Billy Joel and got the crowd to join him during the iconic chorus which was a ton of fun. The guys in Cadillac Sky, oh man, how can I describe them? They were like seeing multiples of Kevin Gillespie from season 6 of Top Chef going delightfully apeshit with fiddles, banjos, guitars, etc. I will definitely be keeping my eye on them both.

Mumford & Sons was unsurprisingly orgasmic. I was expecting to highlight my favourite performances but truthfully every single song was delivered to the Mumford-hungry Toronto crowd fantastically. The few unrecorded songs they played were just as good and just gave me even more reason to be eager for their sophomore album which I’m sure will be stellar. The two things that were most memorable from last night’s show were how beautiful M&S sound live and the ‘aww-inducing’ chemistry and sense of family between the M&S guys themselves and with their opening acts. Marcus’s voice was perfect and sounded exactly how you’d expect it to. It was like Neuhaus milk chocolates melting in my ears. M&S sounded so amazing that I almost feel a homesickness for it. I wish I were back there, their folky sound felt so welcoming and friendly like you were at a small-town fair where everyone knew each other. I can almost guarantee the show would not have been the same had King Charles and Cadillac Sky not played as well. M&S invited both back for song after song and as a huge fan you really didn’t even mind that they’d ruin it because they added to the performance so much. I will definitely be keeping an eye on both in the time to come.

My favourite part of the entire evening was during the encore when the entire gang (M&S, Charles and CS) played a song written by King Charles called “Lady Of The River” which I’d known they’d been performing through the tour which I was excited to hear. IT WAS FPORISDGKVIKADMKLCJSKLF!! SO GOOD. This was the moment my love for King Charles was sealed in the vault. I was dancing and clapping so much my limbs were aching and my cheeks hurt from smiling so much. The song was beautiful and their chemistry was adorable and hilarious

I enjoyed myself thoroughly and had such a lovely time last night that I will remember it for a long time to come. I feel lucky to have seen these amazing lads live and I look forward seeing them again in the future. The expletives to describe Mumford & Sons don’t even exist yet is all I can leave you all with. Check out their album, check out their singles, check out their EP w/ Laura Marling and The Dharohar Project they recorded in India (FANTASMICAL fyi) and just check out anything to do with them in general.

With all that said, “Where you invest your love, you invest your life..”

PS - After coming home last night, I fell asleep listening to M&S and had a dream in typical Sashya-fashion. I dreamt I met the guys after the show and they invited me to take a tour of their tour bus and Marcus totally fell madly in love with me. *sigh* I woke up wishing I was in that seedy basement place in ‘Inception’ where people were just plugged into their dreams for weeks without end like drug addicts. OH, I SO WANT TO GO THERE. IT’S SO NICE THERE.

Reblogging to give myself a refresher. PookieMaria and Mari, this one’s for you. See you lovely ladies tmrw. :)
